Total and Peugeot start production of batteries for electric cars

The joint venture will open two factories under the name Automotive Cell Company (ACC) (one in Germany and one in France) and will be supported by European money. Total has announced that the total project will cost 5 billion euros, of which 1.3 billion euros will come from the European Commission.

Construction of the first factory in France will start within the next four years. From 2030 the Automotive Cell Company will produce enough battery packs for a million electric cars per year, which is equivalent to 10 to 15 percent market share.
