What is RoHS?

RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. The European RoHS Directive, introduced in February 2003, sets strict limits on the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

These substances include:

  • Lead (Pb)
  • Cadmium (Cd)
  • Mercury (Hg)
  • Hexavalent chromium (Cr6+)
  • PBB
  • PBDE

An important aspect of the RoHS Directive is the transition to lead-free soldering, helping to improve production safety and reduce environmental impact.
