IP Rating


he IP rating on electric devices is an indication for the degree to which the device is protected against damage through use in hostile environments.

 

An overview of much-used IP ratings

 

The IP rating is internationally normalized in the norm EIC 60529. The IP rating consists of 2 digits: the first digit indicates the degree of protection against objects penetrating up to dust tightness. The second digit indicates the degree of protection against moisture.
