The Municipality of Lisse called in Elfa Elementenfabriek when the public clock on Square came to a standstill due to a battery that was difficult to replace. Thanks to rapid analysis and specialist knowledge, Elfa supplied the right battery, so that the clock worked again within a short time. The municipality now has clear information for future management.

Background

For years, Het Vierkant, the central and lively square in the heart of Lisse, has been home to a prominent public clock. The clock is a landmark for residents and visitors and plays a role in the experience of the square. When the clock stopped unexpectedly, this immediately caused attention and questions within the village.

What was the challenge of the public clock?

Inspection showed that the dial lighting was still functioning properly via the public lighting network, but that the watch itself was powered by a separate battery. This battery was empty and appeared to be of a very specific type, coming from an unknown manufacturer and not commonly available in the Netherlands.

For the Municipality of Lisse, the challenge was clear:

  • finding the right type of battery;
  • fast delivery to get the clock working again in the short term;
  • certainty about a reliable solution for the future.

What solution was devised for Lisse?

Elfa asked the municipality to send the original battery for analysis. After thorough research, it turned out to be a 3.6V lithium primary cell, and therefore not about a rechargeable battery as was initially suspected.

As a replacement solution, Elfa provided the 3.6V SL2790 DD, a reliable and readily available battery that is fully suitable for this application.

Implementation and results

After installing the new battery, the clock worked flawlessly again. The timing was perfect: just a few days before the holiday week in Lisse, the clock ran on time again. The results at a glance:

  • the public clock on the Square works correctly again;
  • no long-term failure or visible inconvenience;
  • clarity about the right battery type for future management.

The Municipality of Lisse has now included the battery data in the management system, so that replacement can take place quickly and efficiently in the future.

Project Conclusion

This customer story shows how specialist knowledge, rapid action and personal involvement lead to a practical and effective solution. Elfa Elementenfabriek also makes a difference in small but visible projects by looking beyond standard solutions and offering certainty for the future.
